As Jen entered Route 1, she tossed the pokeball that was in her hands and released her Stantler, who snorted happily and pawed the ground.
"Hi there! I'm Jeniella, but please, call me Jen..." she said, scowling a bit. She shook her head and smiled again, petting her new pokemon carefully.
"I think I'll call you Dasher!" she said excitedly, her green eyes shining. The Stantler smiled, nodding her head.
<I like that name!> she said, nudging Jen playfully with her nose. Jen laughed and started down the route, with Dasher right beside her.

Out of nowhere, a Ledyba flew out of the trees, taking a mad dash, not even noticing the new duo. A Pidgey rushed after the Ledyba, apparently chasing it's lunch. Or maybe it's dinner...

Jen jumped a bit as the two pokemon came out of nowhere. She blinked as the Ledyba flew off, seeming to be chased by the Pidgey. It took a few moments, but then something clicked in her mind.
"Oh my gosh! That Pidgey's gonna eat that Ledyba! We gotta help it!" Jen said, running off after the two wild pokemon. Dasher blinked for a moment before taking off after her trainer, the thundering of her hooves making the ground shake a bit.

The Ledyba continued it's mad dash, the Pidgey closing slowly in on it. However, the Ledyba had agility even Pidgey didn't have. Realizing that the trainer and the Stantler might be helping her, so she veered up and around, making the Pidgey stall for a minute.

Jen grinned as the Pidgey stopped, and she skidded to a stop herself. Dasher also stopped, carving a small intent into the ground with her hooves.
"Alright, use a Tackle on the Pidgey!" Jen said, pointing to the bird pokemon. Dasher nodded and pawed the ground before snorting and charging at the Pidgey, ready to knock it to the ground.

|If you don't mind, I'll mod you for a bit. Angelness will get on when I get off, see, if you read the Chatbox, you'll know why.|
The Pidgey was hit by the massive pokemon. <Hey, bub, stay outta this! You try catching your own food, at least grass doesn't run away from you when you try to eat it!> It cawed angrily as it flapped it's wings rapidly, kicking up a dust cloud that was a Sand Attack, hoping to get away from Dasher as it turned towards the Ledyba again. Pidgey couldn't fight well on an empty stomach, and therefore was more interested in the bug pokemon. Unfortunately for the omnivore, the Ledyba was behind Jen and clinging to the back of her head.

Dasher winced as the blinding sand stung her eyes, and he retreated back towards Jen. Jen grinned at the Pidgey's words, for she found it quiet amusing.
"Well, I'm pretty good with the food chain, but no one is gonna get eaten while I'm around," she said, tightening her bandanna a bit before continuing, "Dasher, use another Tackle!" She then pried the Ledyba from her head and cradled it in her arms, ready to defend it well if needed.
Dasher snorted and sought the Pidgey out through blurry eyes. When she saw the Pidgey's bird-like shape, she stomped the ground before charging at it again.

The Pidgey, not having expected an accurate attack through sand-covered eyes, was thrown backwards by the force of Dasher's bodyweight. After finally getting it's bearings on the air current, the Pidgey veered around, a mad glare in it's eyes. <Look. I'm JUST trying to get my darned lunch! NOW GET OUTTA THE WAY!> The Pidgey screeched as it flew towards Dasher with a Tackle attack of its own.

Dasher grunted as she was knocked to the ground, landing hard on her side. She stood up, shaking a bit while clearing her head. Jen watched the Pidgey, a mix of emotions running through her mind. She was quiet angry at the Pidgey for trying to eat the poor Ledyba, but yet, she felt a little pity for the bird, who was only trying to get a meal. On another note, she was feeling very excited about the battle.
"Okay, Dasher, Tackle again! You can do this!" Jen said, her green eyes shining brightly. The Stantler grunted and rose to her hind legs for a moment, before charging at the Pidgey again, anger burning in her eyes.

The Pidgey was a bit smarter this time, but not smart enough. It waited until the last second to flap up with all it's power, and because of that bad timing, Dasher still managed to hit it's belly. That turned out to be even worse. As the Stantler's horns collided with the Pidgey's belly, the bird was knocked off balance, and was sent doing somersaults (sp?) through the air, and hit it's head against a tree, knocking it out.
Dasher gains 2 levels! Dasher gains 5 happiness points! Dasher learns Leer!
The Ledyba turned around in Jen's arms, and hugged her with all of it's short six arms. Or... Legs. Both of them. Either of them... With it's six limbs, basically...

Dasher sighed and collapsed to the ground as the Pidgey was defeated, the battle exhausting her. Jen grinned and hugged the Ledyba back, not really surprised by it's show of emotion.
"I'm glad you're safe." she said, smiling down at the bug pokemon. She then ran to Dasher and glomped her, congratulating her on the win.
"You did awesome!" Jen said happily, kissing the Stantler on the nose. Dasher blinked slightly at her trainer, before smiling and licking her face. Jen laughed and then turned to the fainted Pidgey. She didn't just want to leave it there, so she decided to catch it. She pulled out an empty pokeball and tossed it at the bird pokemon.

Jen smiled as the pokeball stopped, but was a bit preoccupied as the Ledyba latched onto her.
"Uh, you know, you could leave now...You're safe from that Pidgey..." she said, a sweatdrop forming on her head. Dasher blinked and retrieved the pokeball, picking it up gently in her mouth.

The Ledyba, however, was already falling asleep on Jen's back, apparently unaware that the danger was gone. Or, maybe that was why the bug was sleeping. Up ahead, three Caterpie ran around in a continuous circle for... No apparent reason. Maybe they were playing Tag. Maybe they thought they were getting somewhere. More likely, however, was that they were just following the Caterpie in front of it. Smart... Bugs...

Jen sweatdropped again and sighed, deciding to let the Ledyba sleep on her back for a little while. She then took the pokeball with her new Pidgey in it and stowed it away, thanking Dasher for getting it for her. As she looked up, a smile cracked over her face when she saw the Caterpie.
"Okay, time to train some more, Dasher. Use Tackle on the leader of those Caterpie." she said, pointing at the three bug pokemon. The Stantler nodded and charged at the Caterpie, heading for the leader of the three.
