Jen blinked as something seemed to fall into her pack. She skidded to a stop and panted as she took off her pack, blinking as she saw the fossil sitting in it.
"Wow...Pokemon never cease to amaze me..." she said, smiling at the Ledyba that was now flying away. She sighed and stood up, walking on at a much slower pace than usual, her mind deep in thought.

Still, no pokemon showed up. Around the next bend, Greenville was visible. It was only about a three minute walk from the corner. You could stay and train, or go onto Greenville to heal, and stock up.

Jen smiled when her green eyes spotted Greenville, for she really needed to get Dasher healed and to get back to training.
"Hang on, girl. You'll be better soon..." Jen whispered, tightening her pack on her back. She took a deep breath and ran the rest of the way to Greenville.

Jen reentered Route 1, and broad smile plastered onto her face. Now that Dasher was in tip-top shape again, she would resum their training.
"Okay, let's find us a pokemon." she said, walking off in a random direction. Dasher snorted and smiled, walking beside her trainer.

<I'll battle you!> A pokemon walked out of the trees, stepping in front of Jen. It was a male Nidoran, standing tall and proudly, smiling surely. Wow! A normal pokemon, for once! <I've seen how trainers go, battling and such, looking for pokemon to train against. I'd be more than happy to be your opponent.> It crouched down into a battle-ready stance. <Bring it!>

Jen grinned when the male Nidoran spoke, liking it's additude.
"Alright, you've got youself a battle. Dasher, use Tackle!" she said, nodding at the Stantler, who nodded back and stepped foreward. She pawed the ground before charging at the small poison pokemon, the ground thundering with every step.

Nidoran used Focus Energy, giving off a pale yellow light, and when Dasher came, he rolled out of the way of the thundering hooves, then leaped at the Stantler's back, with Peck!

Dasher cried out in pain as the attack hit, and the male Nidoran was still on her back.
"Okay, use Tail Whip and then try to buck it off!" Jen said, biting her lip. Dasher snorted and whipped her small tail around before bucking her hind legs hard, hopefully hard enough to knock the little poison pokemon from her back.

Nidoran cursed as he had let himself get hit with the Tail Whip. Angrily, he was about to sink in another Peck before felt his stomach churn as he was being flung up and down. He held on, making sure to let go while he was going up and not down, then tried diving at the deer with his horn aiming down.

Dasher grunted and bucked harder, trying desperately to knock the male Nidoran from her now aching back. Jen bit her lip, but was struck with an idea.
"Okay Dasher, roll around on the ground!" she said. The Stantler blinked and then nodded, throwing her large body to the earth below and started rolling about, hoping to get the little poison pokemon to let go, and maybe do a little damage.

The Nidoran was thrown to the ground, then rolled on, causing it to be flatter than it should have been. ((Woohoo! Nidoran pancakes!)) He grunted, struggling to get to his feet. Once he did, he shook his purple head, and ran towards Dasher with another Peck attack.

Dasher grinned and bolted to her feet, dodging the male Nidoran's oncoming attack. Jen also grinned, happy that her plan worked so well.
"Okay, good Dasher! Now use Tackle!" she said, excitement swelling up inside her, hoping to win this battle. Dasher snorted and dashed at the Nidoran, ready to ram it at full force.

The Nidoran, being more agile than he seemed to be at first, dodged easily around Dasher's long legs, and turned around. He ran after Dasher with his own Peck attack, hoping to catch the Stantler by surprise with an attack from behind.

Dasher winced as the Nidoran's attack hit, and then cursed herself for missing her attack. Jen frowned and clenched her fists a bit.
"C'mon Dasher! You can do this! Use Tail Whip, and wait until it makes it's next move." Jen said, thinking up a small plan. Dasher grunted and stood up, her long limbs shaking a bit as she wagged her small tail back and forth.

The Nidoran's defenses were successfully lowered, and it's head shook as a few droplets of water fell from the sky. Great. Rain. After a few moments, though, he ignored them, and dove forward with another Peck attack. It hadn't been paying any sort of attention to Jen's comments - least of all the 'wait until it makes it's next move' part. It had been more distracted by the Tail Whip, the drizzling promise of rain, and the fact that it's overlarge opponent seemed to be weakening. He was, too, of course, he just didn't show it. When your legs were hardly an inch long, speed or legs-growing-shaking hints were basically useless. He liked it that way. Deciding to prove himself wrong, to try to prove he was still at full strength, he dug in, and went faster than before. That, though, wasn't saying too much.
