Max waited for the other Growlithe to come back up, hoping that it would hurry, seeing as the lava was getting too close to comfort.

The Growlithe re appeared and motioned for them to come in. It then jumped into a big, black hole inside the bottom of the rock.

Max and Blast jumped down into the dark abyss. He hoped that what he would find down here was better then what was up there.

They finally landed on cold growl. The Growlithe stood there them grinning. <That's the fun part of it.> The tunnel was almost pitch dark, lava crawled down the sides of the cave.

Max couldn't see anything. Sensing Max's want, Blast fired some Embers to make the room or hallway or wherever they were more light. What he saw shocked him....

The Growlithe started walking up the path, using even strides. He turned around and looked at Max. <You coming?>

"Ya, I guess so" Max said, walking and keeping up with the Growlithe. Blast followed from behind, making sure nothing surprised them.

The Growlithe led them through that tunnel to another one. This one was brighter and had several holes in the wall. A couple of Vulpixes were sleeping in one big hole.. The Growlithe continued to walk through the path.

Seeing the Vulpixes, Max had to fight the urge to tell Blast to attack them. His main goal, now, was to get out of this god-forsaken place. To calm his nerves, blast started to walk inbetween his legs, like a cat. He patted him on the head, "Good Boy, you wil always be there for me." Blast nodded his head, still carassing Max's legs.

Just as they were about to leave this path, a growl came from the darkness. A Houndoom emerged. This pokemon was slightly bigger than normal and looked a lot fiercer. It looks like you'd have to battle him to get through. The Growlithe shrank back in fear.

Their leader backing away in shame, Max stared at the Houndoom. "God, do we have to battle it?" The deep growl it made confirmed their suspicions. I need to use my two strongest Pokemon. Although it wouldn't be fair, number whys, the Houndoom was fully evolved and looked tougher than usual. Alright, then. It's decided. "Blast, get out there and come on out, Magby!" Max sent the two fire Pokemon out, hoping to win a battle with no type advantage, but there was still the Houndoom's dark factor.

The Houndoom smirked when he saw his oppenents. This would be an easy battle. He reared onto his hind legs, and came down. He then burst into an run and used Bite.

"Both of you, stuff his mouth full of coals!" Max yelled. The two fire Pokemon met the Bite with a load of Ember, aimed for the snapping jaws of the foe.

The Houndoom's eyes water as fire burst into his throat. Using this to his advantage, he turned the fire into an Ember and sent it right back at the two.

Now that the Embers were coming back at his Pokemon, Max had to rethink his strategy. "Alright guys, wait for his next move." They were facing a tough opponent, and Max, and his Pokemon, knew it.
